Celebrating The First Year With A Sailing Weekend

Being married for a year is definitely something to celebrate.  It gave us an excuse to take work off and enjoy doing what ever we wanted to do for 3 whole days!  Jake and I decided that our anniversary weekend has been the best weekend of our married life so far.   It was filled with a lot of sailing, snorkeling, swimming, delicious meals, laughs and a whole lot of fun with just each other.
We ended up sailing to St. John, one of the U.S. Virgin Islands that is just about 2 miles away from St. Thomas.  When we arrived it felt like escape from the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas.  We spent the night moored in Caneel Bay, it was quiet and very enjoyable.  That night was a bit of rock and roll because of the swells and the wind direction, so after not much sleep we decided to find a better spot for the next night.
The following day we sailed over to Christmas Cove on the island of Great St. James.  It was a great place for us to snorkel and enjoy that night with a delicious dinner, laying on the deck looking at the stars and watching a movie outside.
After a better nights sleep we were ready for more adventure the next day.  We woke up made breakfast and sailed off to a new spot.   This time we headed over to Buck Island, an island near St. Thomas with a lot of turtles and rays to snorkel with.  Turtles are my favorite.  The water was the perfect temperature for a hot day and snorkeling was wonderful.  After a day of snorkeling we made a delicious lunch, took a nap (this is not something we do often) and then untied and sailed away and headed back to our slip where we will get back to normal life.
Jake and I loved this weekend, we loved taking the boat out and it finally felt like we had a short little honeymoon that we weren't able to do right after the wedding.
Here are some pictures from our sailing weekend.

So excited to get away and go sailing! Sportin' our sun protection!

Our little boat dog.

My handsome captain!

Absolutely magical

Watching a lightning storm in the distance.
Dozer yawning after a long day of doing nothing.
A beautiful shell that Jake found, brought me, we documented then returned it to its home.
All smiles after snorkeling with the turtles.
