ALMOST VACATION TIME!

The countdown is on! 13 days until we catch a flight off this rock for a much needed vacation to the United States!   I am thrilled.  Jake is thrilled and I really hope the days fly by until we leave!  The things we are looking forward to:

1.       Seeing Dozer.

2.       Seeing Family.

3.       Seeing a couple of our closest friends.

4.       Going to the dentist to repair my tooth that has been broken for the last 5 months!

5.       Going to the eye doctor (maybe new glasses)

6.       Shopping (me more so than Jake, but he is still making lists of supplies neededJ).

7.       Eating Mexican Food and other foods that we lack down here!

8.       Driving in a car.

9.       Enjoying civilization.

10.     Being away from work.
Living on a boat, and on an island where pretty much everything is shipped in really makes you thankful for all of the resources up in the states.  When I called the eye doctor to schedule an appt. they informed me that they are just adjacent to Target (to give me a landmark in finding them)! Do you know how happy I was to hear that! Ha I am pretty pathetic when I think about the joy that brought me.  Jake would roll his eyes at that comment, but I miss Target, I miss all the places that made life so convenient.  In a way it is good to be away from all of that, it makes you grateful for modern resources as well as more self-sufficient.

We are staying busy until we leave our days will be filled with work, entertaining our guests (Jake's best friend and girlfriend are coming down for 8 days), Visiting the British Virgin Islands on our boat, and then we are off to the mainland!

So here is to hoping we will stay busy enough that these 13 days that stand between us and civilization go by quickly! VACATION… HERE WE COME!

5 New Things Happening in St. Thomas

5 New Things Happening in St. Thomas

Little Caesars opened in Kmart… This is definitely not on my diet, but we did stop in and get a batch of crazy bread yesterday as a 1 time thing… just to test if this new establishment was quicker than the rest of the “fast food” restaurants here, and to taste a little bit of the USA.  They were pretty fast.  We were in and out even with a long line. Whoever owns that Little Caesars is bringing in the dough $$$$ (no pun intended)!  It was really busy last night and as Jake put it “It is after prime eating time! It is probably crazy busy around lunch and dinner.”

2 I am working a second job and really enjoying it.  Check it out if you get a chance; https://www.facebook.com/CokiBeachDiveClub.   I went to school to be a teacher;  In my main job I work for Corporate America where I follow directions and rules to do my job.  I am not a person in marketing where I get to use my creativity, but I have taken over Coki Beach Dive Clubs social media (Facebook, Twitter, Cokidive.com) as a new project.  I love the challenge and the competition.  Jake has given me a lot of ideas, and him and I are brainstorming ways to make it just a little better all the time.  We are a great team.

3 It is that time of year again… the time of year that I dread! HURRICANE SEASON!  We are getting prepared because it is supposed to be an active season.  This time of year is full of anxiety and stress.  We are hiding away in a marina surrounded by mangroves in a very sheltered spot.  We don't usually get big storms here until later on in the season, but you never know.  The last few rain storms have been quite intense and it makes you wonder how this season is  going to pan out.  I am a bit nervous, but all we can do is hope for  the best.

4 Dozer is on vacation.  Fred (Jake's Dad) came down to St. Thomas to pick him up and take him to Florida.  Jake's parent's dog was in heat we are hoping they made some puppies, we will wait and see.  Dozer will be staying up there until we go to visit in August.  We miss him so much.  I feel like we sent our child off to summer camp.  The first few days we didn't know what to do, and didn't realize how much time he takes up.  We found ourselves feeling bored and a little lost on what to do next.  We are in the swing of things now, and just feel the distance when we come home from work, and don't get him there greeting us, or when we are lying in bed wishing he was cuddling with us.  He is having a good time though, and we will see him soon. :)

5 When Fred came down to get Dozer he brought us some beautiful new helmets! Ours were getting worn out, and we were very happy to see the new helmets.  They are cute to :)
