Some Firsts

Today was a big day for our new puppy Crew.  He got to bask in the sun at the beach, experience the ocean waves, and play in the sand all for the first time.   When Crew first walked on the sand he looked at it wondering,"what in the world is this?".  He followed Dozer around and started to dig, roll and run around the beach.  We had a hard time getting him to go in the water.  Jake placed him in the water and he ran right back out.  Hopefully he will adjust to it, and learn that it isn't as scary as he thinks.  We had a great time at the beach.

We brought bones home for the dogs today.  They were excited for the treat and were chomping away, then I found a tooth.  I was a little shocked at first, but Jake explained that Crew would loose them like kids do.  So our little Crew went to the beach for the first time today AND he lost his first tooth! I apologize in advance for how I will react when these events happen with our future children. I immediately got out my camera and documented the milestones.  Here are a few shots.

On to Utah

It has been years since I have been able to enjoy the holidays with my family.  I have lived away from home and/or had to work, so this year was a treat.  We celebrated Christmas early with Jake's family, then caught a plane on Christmas Eve to Salt Lake City.  I was excited to see my family, snow, wear my Ugg boots and feel the spirit of the holiday season.  We arrived to cold temperatures biting at our skin.  I loved it.  It felt like pure fresh air (the inversion hadn't set in yet).

Christmas morning was filled with family, present opening, good food and quality time.  We all worked together to make Christmas lunch and enjoyed a nice meal together.  It is tradition for my family to go to the movies on Christmas day, so after a late lunch we all went to see "Saving Mr. Banks".  Jake and I were exhausted from the time difference, all the traveling and being up late the night before, so we didn't see much of the movie.  The theater was packed and my family enjoyed the movie, while we dozed on and off through out the film.  We will have to rent it and watch it later.

The rest of the week was filled with a family tubing outing with my family, an open house for friends to come and visit (I didn't get pictures of this), then a bunch of outings with friends and family to spend time with everyone while enjoying some of our favorite things like… Cafe Rio, Aristro's, donuts, the mall and random things that we don't get in the Caribbean.   Here are some pictures from the week.

I wish that I would have been more diligent about taking pictures.  As I think back to the outings we had, I don't have pictures with some of our best friends that we hadn't seen in years, the baby shower I attended, or New Years!
We were really grateful to spend a good amount of time with family and friends that we don't see very often.  It was so nice to come to Utah to see some of the people we are closest to.  This trip really made us appreciate our oldest and dearest friends even more.  Thank you for a fun time everyone!
 XOXO Miss you already!

First Stop... Florida

Living on an island and working a lot, it has been difficult for us to get away, especially for the holidays.  Since leaving our jobs we had the opportunity to head to the states and see our families.

First stop Florida.  Jake's parents moved to Florida this year, and this is our second visit to see them.   We planned our trip to spend time in Florida, then head to Utah before going back to St. Thomas.  One thing we planned was to surprise Jake's sister Athena and her Husband Alan in Florida.  They were planning to spend the holidays with her parents,  but had no idea we were going to meet them there.    We were the ones surprised when we arrived, we were greeted by Jake's grandparents from Pennsylvania.  So it was a whole family affair.  Jake's Parents, Grandma and Grandpa, and Athena and Alan... and all 5 dogs.  We also had the opportunity to visit with Jake's Great Aunt Joanie and Uncle Johnny.  It was a great week!  We took a trolley ride around Old Town St. Augustine, we visited different museums and tourist sites and went fishing!  Here are some pictures from the week.

We had a wonderful time in Florida visiting.  We are thankful for the family time and everyone we were able to see.  I wish we had more pictures from time with Great Uncle Johnny and Aunt Joanie.  We had a wonderful time visiting with family eating delicious food, and relaxing.
